It will also help you to avoid other major problems in the future. When doing a thorough check on the garage door make sure the door is close. You need to examine the tracks, look for any loose hardware, loose screws and bolts on the brackets, damaged springs, or anything else you might see that’s wrong with the door.

If your garage rolls up in sections. You need to check the hinges to make sure they don’t have any damage to them. If they do you need to replace the hinges and tighten up any loose screws.

If you see the hinges are loose but not broken they might have screws that’s stripped or enlarged. You can go to any hardware store and pick up some longer screws to replace them with.

If you see any cracks in the wood near the hinges you can use wood glue or a filler to fix any tiny cracks that’s inside the wood. When checking out the tracks look to see if there’s any dents in the metal.

You can easily fix these dents by using a hammer to straighten the metal back out. However if the tracks are dented very badly it’s better just to have them replaced.

Overtime the garage door tracks can accumulate lots of dirt and grease that need to be cleaned. If not clean thoroughly it can build up and eventually cause problems with operating your door.

Some household cleaners and a towel is all you need to properly wipe down the tracks and rollers. When cleaning them make sure you don’t let them just air dry. Instead get a dry towel to wipe them off until they’re completely dry.

If you keep hearing weird loud noises from the your garage door. Try adding some lubricant, powder, or silicone spray to help make the door operate more quietly.
